Hurricane Strikes Hispaniola in 1495

In June 1495, a hurricane struck the tiny Spanish settlement of Isabella, on the coast of Hispaniola. It was the first hurricane to be witnessed by Europeans in the New World.

This is the earliest known picture of a hurricane.
