John Collins (Miami Beach, Fla.), 1927 March 10.

Beginning in the 1890s, Collins bought land on Miami Beach, planted mango and avocado groves, and grew tomatos and potatos for northern markets. With his adult children and Carl Fisher, he built the Collins Bridge in 1913, the first bridge from the mainland to Miami Beach.
