Historical Note
The Committee of One Hundred was founded in Miami Beach in 1926 with Clayton Sedgwick Cooper as founding president. Members were composed of leading industrialists, financiers, educators and professionals who were full or part-time residents of South Florida. In addition to the social camaraderie, the group's predominant purpose was the advancement of philanthropic social service as affecting the communities of Miami Beach. Prominent members included; Harvey S. Firestone, Thomas J. Pancoast, Carl G. Fisher, Mark C. Honeywell and John H. Kellogg.
In 2007, the Committee of 100 became an affiliate group of the Historical Museum of Southern Florida.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of scrapbooks, journals, newsletters, photographs, membership applications and other club records.
The records are organized and boxed chronologically
