Biographical Note
Architect. Born in Russia 1912, immigrated to the U.S. 1922, graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania. Moved to Miami in 1934. Designed hotels, office buildings, and houses until the mid-1960s, when he retired to Colorado. Died 1978.
Scope and Contents
Exhibition-quality photographic prints of buildings designed by Polevitsky between 1934 and the mid-1960s. Photographers include Samuel H. Gottscho, Rudi Rada, and Ernest Graham. Includes views of Miami Beach and Miami residences, Miami Beach hotels (Shelbourne, Albion, etc.), Havana hotels (Havana Biltmore, Havana Riviera), automotive businesses (car dealerships, gas stations, General Tires), retail shops (jewelry and shoe stores), offices (Kislak Mortgage, etc.), and other businesses (Arthur Murray, restaurants).
Arranged by size of photograph and alphabetically by name of building.
