American White Pelican

This White Pelican was probably painted in Florida in 1831 or 1832. In North America, White Pelicans can best be seen in Florida during the winter or Salt Lake City during the summer. Lehman drew a second picture, not used in the elephant folio, showing the body in profile and the head towards the viewer.
