Winter Break Camp 2009
The Historical Museum's Tropical Adventurers camps provides kids ages 6 to 12 years of age the opportunity to discover and visit historic sites and have wild adventures too. Guided by museum educators, historians, and artists, campers discover the treasures of South Florida's history.

MEMORIES OF OLD FLORIDA
Week 1: December 21, 22 and 23

Look back to a simpler, more relaxed way of life in the sunshine state. Construct sailboats and build a wood and stone model of The Barnacle, Commodore Munroe's 19th century home of Coconut Grove. Make pioneer-era caricature artwork while exploring the Wagner House in downtown Miami's Lummus Park built in the 1850s.

PARADISE ISLANDS
Week 2: December 28, 29 and 30

Discover the little-known, amazing natural history of the West Indies. Make displays of the world's smallest bird, frog and other mini-creatures of Cuba. Make musical instruments with calabash and other indigenous materials. Learn how nature has influenced the culture, diet and music of these verdant, sun-splashed lands.
