Overnight Camp-Ins

Embark on an overnight adventure filled with fun and learning with the Historical Museum of Southern Florida! Campers will explore the galleries and enjoy arts and crafts, skits and other hands-on activities. Your group will sleep beneath a Seminole chickee or in a 1920s trolley, as they camp in the museum’s exhibition galleries.

Camp-ins begin at 6:30 pm on Friday and conclude at 9:30 am the next morning.

Cost
$35 per child—20 student minimum required—60 student maximum.
One chaperone per 10 students is required. The cost for each chaperone is $10.
Fee includes materials, a snack, breakfast and a Historical Museum patch.

When the lights go off at the Historical Museum of Southern Florida the fun turns on in the galleries! Pick from one of our four multi-disciplinary programs, all of which are bound to color your memories with great stories of your own for years to come.

Florida’s Fab Femmes: Women in History
Some call it girl power, others women’s rights, but all in all it is Women’s History! Join us as we explore the museums galleries while re-enacting the stories of famous and influential south Florida women. Sounds like a great slumber party!

Sea Legs 101: Pirates in our Midst
Arrr matey! Did you know that Florida’s history is riddled with tales of pirates from near and far? Pack your overnight bag, because it’s going to take a whole night to explore our galleries, build a pirate ship and maybe become pirates ourselves!

Curtain Call: Lights, Camera, History!
Are we in the Historical Museum of Southern Florida or at a sound stage? Join us for this overnight experience as we meet the exciting characters that helped build the magic city of Miami and create a historical play as we get closer to midnight.

Camp Fire Takes: Stories of the Wild, Wild South
From brave Spanish explorers, runaways from the law, to Seminoles attacking and setting fire to the Cape Florida lighthouse, South Florida’s history is full of tales of adventure and ghostly intrigue.  We’ll take care of having flashlights for you if you bring your sleeping bag for this exciting program.
