Ms. Garcia comes from an aviation family. Her uncle, C. Edwin Young, was part of Pan Am when it started up in Miami. "Hearing his stories as a child no doubt sparked seeds of interest in me to be involved in aviation," says Ms. Garcia, whose career with Delta spans more than 30 years. She celebrates Miami's aviation history with her quilt block. Built in 1934, the Pan American Airways System, located at Dinner Key Terminal, was used for overseas flights from Miami to South America. The building retains its art deco touches, and now serves as Miami's City Hall.
