The Egret: Ralph Munroe's Sailboat
by Ann Buhler

Permanent pen/color pencil

Munroe designed his boat, the Egret, in 1886. It had "a Sharpie design with a cat-ketch rig. It was shallow crafted to adapt to the waters of Biscayne Bay. Boats like the Egret were the covered wagons of Miami's early pioneers." Ms. Buhler is an expert on Commodore Munroe and early Miami. She serves as a Barnacle volunteer tour guide.
