HistoryMiami, formerly known as Historical Museum of Southern Florida, has recruited 20 creative teenagers to participate in its Teen Miami program. Teen Miami is a three year internship and exhibition development project aimed at addressing the need for teen voices and perspectives in museum exhibitions and collections.

Selected teen interns will:
Be trained in the behind-the-scenes operations of a history museum by working as paid interns in various museum departments.
Participate in an oral history project documenting teen life across generations in Miami-Dade County.
Develop a Teen Miami exhibition, which will open at HistoryMiami in 2012.
The selected teen participants will be instrumental in helping to make the HistoryMiami and the Teen Miami exhibition relevant to the teenagers of today and yesterday.
Program Requirements:
Interested teens must complete an application and turn it in to us by April 15, 2010.
Teen applicants must be entering their freshmen or sophomore year of high school in September of 2010.
Teen Miami requires a significant time commitment. Selected teen participants must commit five weeks of their time to HistoryMiami for three consecutive summers (2010, 2011 and 2012) and eight hours a month of their time for three consecutive school years (2010, 2011 and 2012).

Program stipends: After successfully completing the first five week orientation program, teens will receive paid internships at the institution.
