Rufus Nims Adler guest cottage (Hibiscus House) is a modernist
restructuring of the functional Florida vernacular logic of raising living
areas above the ground, in order to avoid bugs and achieve better views
and breezes. The house is a single-floor pavilion, wrapped in an innovative
system of louvered glass and wood panels that light and ventilate the
ceiling and floor. Nims designed and built all the furniture in the house.
