ENDANGERED SPECIES

Collectors removed so many palms, orchids, and Liguus tree snails that they became endangered or extinct. Some collectors would burn a hammock after gathering all the Liguus or orchids, to ensure that their collections contained the only varieties that exist. This practice is now illegal.
