Myths and Dreams: Exploring the Cultural Legacies of Florida and the Caribbean
November 12, 1999 to January 23, 2000
The milestone of a new millennium affords us the opportunity to contemplate our past and consider our future. This exhibition traces the evolution of American cultures in Florida and the Caribbean throughout the millennium.
Myths and Dreams examines the evolution of the Americas through cultural artifacts, photographs, art, maps, books and descriptive text panels that portray New World cultural history.
This exhibition also explores the cultural milestones that have left a mark on our present day society in art, music, dress and architecture, as well as the ideologies that have shaped our institutions.
Organized by the Historical Museum of Southern Florida in partnership with the Jay I. Kislak Foundation.
