Miami Bungalows
On display through September 9, 2007

The bungalow was a popular house type with the growing middle class across America during the early twentieth century. Ample porches, wide eaves, local building materials and natural ventilation made the bungalow well suited to South Florida’s subtropical environment. In spite of their practicality, bungalows today are rapidly disappearing from the Miami landscape to make room for new developments. View this important part of Miami’s architectural heritage through drawings, photographs and models built by Miami-Dade College architecture students. Guest curator is Jose Vazquez, a professor of architecture at Miami Dade College.
