Description:

Explore Hollywood Beach, one of Broward's oldest neighborhoods, and examine the historic buildings along its walkway with historian Dr. Paul George. Relax and enjoy a leisurely seaside stroll past Art Deco architecture, lively cafes, and shops on this wide promenade. See the site of the Hollywood Beach Casino, and discover the original New River inlet. Learn what is being done to preserve this significant area.

From the northern end near fabulous Indian Creek Village, to sizzling South Beach, enjoy a leisurely cruise of Biscayne Bay with the Museum's Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George. Along the way, see the sites of homesteading communities Lemon city and Buena Vista, the islands that Christo wrappped and causeways, bridges, and famous hotels developed around the water.

Learn about the creation of Normandy, Sunset and Venetian Isles and get a close-up view of the Flagler Memorial on Monument Island, the mansions on star-studded Star Island, as well as the house of infamous Al Capone on Palm Island. Advance reservations and payment required.

Absorb Cuban Culture with Dr. Paul George on this extended tour through one of Miami's most exciting neighborhoods. Explore bungalow architecture, see the Tower Theater and marvel at the hand rollers at a cigar factory. Visit Domino Park, Cuban Memorial boulevard and see the home of Miami's first mayor. Visit the home of Cuban boy, Elian Gonzalez, now a poignant memorial to him and his lost mother.

Enjoy the beautiful breezy coastal scenery along the Boardwalk with eco-historian Frank Schena and learn about the struggles pioneers faced in this once-lonely stretch of land. See historic photos and learn how, for the sake of human settlement, modern technology destroyed the mangrove forests that once covered the area. See the results of the fragile coastal strand ecosystem restoration and note how it complements the uban backdrop of modern Miami Beach.Metered parking available along 21 Street.
